Top Vegetarian and Vegan restaurants in Lyon
There are more and more vegetarian and vegan restaurant options in Lyon. When I moved here years ago, there were just a handful of vegetarian restaurants, and the Lyonnais were very much carnivores, but things have changed rapidly and now you find some of the best vegetarian and vegan restaurants in France in Lyon. So if you don’t eat meat and still want to enjoy the culinary capital of France, it is possible! Here is a small selection of my favorite vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Lyon.
Les Mauvaises Herbes, one of the best vegetarian restaurans in Lyon
This vegetarian restaurant (the weeds in English) has been in Lyon for ages and is really well reviewed. It’s on the slopes of the Croix-Rousse hill, next to the Roman Amphitheatre. Make sure to reserve ahead! It is vegetarian, but most dishes are actually vegan. All the food is beautifully presented and they have a monthly rotating menu.
Like An Elephant
A cute vegan place with a small menu, higher up the slopes of Croix-Rousse. If you think Vegan French food is a contradiction in terms, come try the food here!
Laska.
Also on the slopes of the croix-rousse, this is another excellent vegetarian/vegan restaurant. It is very well reviewed with a lovely staff and a rotating menu.
Culina Hortus
If you want to have a proper vegetarian culinary experience go here. It is very expensive and very good, but make sure to book ahead and prepare to spend some money on vegetables!
Hank Burger, a vegetarian burger restaurant in Lyon
This is a vegan hamburger place close to place des terreaux. I eat meat, but I quite liked their burgers!
Au Bonheur des Chats
If you like cats and vegan snacks, this is the place to go. It is a cat café where you can cuddle cats, adopt cats and have a coffee with some nice vegan dishes.
